Separation of Church and State topic of Zanesville's Not everyone agrees with meaning behind the concept of Separation of Church and State! It might surprise you to learn that our forefathers grappled with its meaning as well. Dr. Jared Farley, assistant professor of political science, will discuss the original purposes and history behind the No Establishment Clause of the US Constitution. As part of the First Amendment, the No Establishment Clause was purposefully made vague. His presentation will focus on the intentions and disagreements of the First Congress. Congress designates September 17 annually as Constitution Day. This Constitution Day awareness event will be held on Thursday, September 16, at 7 p.m. at the Zanesville Campus of Ohio University on Newark Road in Zanesville. The event is free and open to the public as part of Ohio University Zanesville’s Third Thursday event series.
