Ohio University Eastern hosts area basketball preview

Hoops Extravaganza! Anyone who enjoys watching high school basketball should plan to be in St. Clairsville at the Ohio University Health and Physical Education Center during the last two weekends in November for the 2010 PNC – Burger King – Buffalo Wild Wings High School Basketball Preview.
The event has built a reputation as the largest preview of its kind in the nation, with approximately 1,000 players taking part in a total of 24 contests over the four days. Girls’ teams will play Nov. 19 and 20 and boys’ teams take the court Nov. 26 and 27.
“The preview is really a showcase of the area’s best teams and brightest stars, participating in a beautiful, first-class setting, with a live audience,” said OUE Athletic Director E. J. Schodzinski. This year’s preview features 48 boys’ and girls’ OVAC teams, including 24 junior varsity programs, making the preview the largest in Ohio and quite possibly the nation, according to Schodzinski.
“We call it ‘The Whopper of Them All,” Schodzinski added, referencing Burger King, one of the major sponsors. PNC and Buffalo Wild Wings also provide major sponsorship for the annual event, which is in its 12th year.
The schedule for the girls preview was released today. The boys preview schedule will be released Nov. 12. Each contest will consist of two quarters.

“This is one event we look forward to every year at Buffalo Wild Wings,” added Chris Beltran, general manager for Buffalo Wild Wings. “It is great to be a part of this special youth activity that signifies the beginning of the high school basketball season.”
