By Jack Jeffery
June 24, 2010
The latest graduating class of students who pursued their college aspirations on the Chillicothe Campus was honored during the eighth annual Recognition of Graduation event in the campus’ Shoemaker Center on Friday, June 11.
Approximately 160 students participated in the ceremony. In all, more than 400 students earned degrees from Ohio University during the 2009-10 academic year while attending the Chillicothe Campus.
Jim Lungo, the recipient of the initial Rich Bebee Alumni Leadership Award, delivered the keynote address. He was one of 10 former students to be recognized as distinguished alumni of campus.
Jody Wilson, who earned an associate degree in human services technology, delivered the Pledge of Allegiance. Wilson is retired from the United State Air Force after a 23-year career.
Liza Tackett, who earned a bachelor’s degree in middle childhood education, shared her perspective in the reflection address. Tackett, a graduate of Aurora (Ohio) High School, now resides in Chillicothe.
A pinning ceremony for graduates of OU-C’s nursing program was held earlier the same day in the Shoemaker Center. Formal commencement activities were held on the Athens campus.
The Great Seal of Ohio Band provided music.
