Chillicothe Tree Comission Presents Campus with
Community Landscaping Award

By Jack Jeffery
May 7, 2010

Ohio University-Chillicothe has been presented with the 2010 Community Landscaping Award from the Chillicothe Tree Commission. The award is presented annually to a business or organization that has shown special attention to landscaping and preserving the city's urban forest during a renovation project.

Chillicothe Campus

"At OU-C, we strive to be caretakers and good stewards of the natural resources found on our campus. In fact, we want the Chillicothe Campus to offer place for area residents to enjoy the beauty of this region," OU-C Dean Richard Bebee said in accepting the award at a recent ceremony in Yoctangee Park.

"More than just an educational institution, we want to offer a relaxing setting for people to go jogging, take a walk or just sit and enjoy the scenery. This approach supports our mission of serving the residents of this wonderful region of the state," Beebe added.

"The recent Parkway Project has greatly enhanced the campus' appearance, and features such as the amphitheater capture this area's natural beauty." Bebee said. "I commend Director of Facilities Management Dave Scott, who was the driving force behind this project, and the members of his crew who do such an outstanding job of maintaining the campus' grounds on a daily basis and in all types of weather. It is important to have an attractive campus that makes a good first impression and reflects the quality of the OU-C educational experience."
